About JMB

The family lineage of JMB Companies, Inc. has roots in Louisiana dating back to 1831. Our namesake, Jules Martial Burguières Sr., founded The J.M. Burguières Co., Ltd. in 1877. It was originally comprised of three sugarcane farms and has prospered through the years as a land acquisition and holding company.

We specialize in natural resource consulting, mitigation, and conservation banking, as well as mineral interests, surface leasing, agriculture, and investment through our Family Office, which encompasses real estate and business acquisitions.

Why JMB?

  • A family-owned business with a ~150-year track record of success.
  • Unlike Private Equity, we are not looking to buy and flip companies within a defined investment horizon through cost-cutting and heavy leverage.
  • We have been Patient Capital Since 1877 and are committed to long-term ownership and operation of well-capitalized businesses.
  • Our focus is not on short-term gains or quick turnarounds. Instead, we are dedicated to building enduring businesses and maintaining ownership over the long haul.
  • We are not financial engineers. We don’t invest in broken businesses; we look for strong management teams and well-positioned companies that need capital and support to grow.
  • Our approach emphasizes sustainable growth, revenue expansion, and profitability, without relying heavily on debt and recapitalization.
  • We are a family-owned investment company with a multi-generational investment horizon. Our long-term financial goals are to increase the intrinsic value of our business while meeting the distribution expectations of our shareholders.
